The Rotary Club of Westerville’s Independence Day Celebration is a GO for 2021!

Fourth of JulyThe City of Westerville has given approval to necessary permits for the Celebration.

Our morning 5K Walk/Run and Kids Fun Run, late afternoon Concert Series and Food Truck Festival, and Fireworks at dusk are all now formally slated for Saturday, July 3.

Our traditional State Street parade will not be staged this year. Due to evolving COVID health guidelines on gatherings, we are unable to pull together the parade on such short notice. The massive parade typically features close to 200 entries and draws 20,000 spectators to State Street. We look forward to its return in 2022!

Big changes coming in 2021

Venue changes are in store for all the 2021 events, and all will take place Saturday, July 3

The 5K Walk/Run and the Concert Series/Food Truck Festival move to the Westerville Sports Complex, 325 N. Cleveland Ave. – directly across Cleveland Avenue from the Westerville Community Center.

The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. July 3, followed by the Fun Run at 9:15. Registration is now closed for the 2021 race. The final day of packet pickup is today, July 2, at the Polaris Fleet Feet store, 1270 E Powell Rd, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

The free-admission Concert Series and Food Truck Festival, also at the Westerville Sports Complex, will begin at 5 p.m. and run until dusk. DJ James Minter will entertain between acts. The venue will be a great spot to spend the evening and stick around for the fireworks. Bring a picnic blanket and lawn chairs to catch the show!

The Fireworks display also will be launched from a new location for 2021: Westerville’s Heritage Park, adjacent to the Everal Homestead northeast of Cleveland Avenue and West Main Street. But the park itself will be closed to visitors during the display for safety reasons.

The fireworks will be launched toward the Sports Complex and Community Center. A fantastic view should be afforded to those who attend the free concert. 104.9 The River will simulcast patriotic music during the fireworks show.

Lights of Liberty: Presented by Butch Bando’s Fantasy of Lights with the support of the Rotary Club of Westerville, the Lights of Liberty patriotic digital light show returns to Westerville’s Independence Day celebration this year, The drive-through-only show will take place from approximately 9:30-11:30 p.m. June 25 through July 2 in the west parking lot of Westerville North High School, 950 County Line Road.

Tickets are $10 per vehicle (regardless of how many people are the vehicle). Proceeds will go to SEALKIDS.org, an organization that serves the special needs of children and families of our U.S. Navy Seals. Click the button below for tickets.
