The Rotary Club of Westerville recognized its April 2022 Students of the Month during its luncheon meeting Thursday, April 14. Throughout the school year, from October through May, the Club honors four students from local high schools each month.
Working with the school principals and counselors, one student each month is chosen from Westerville Central, Westerville North, Westerville South and St. Francis DeSales high schools. The students, their parents, and the school administrators are introduced and honored at a Rotary Club luncheon.
April 2022 Honoree Profiles
Westerville Central: Allie Strosnider’s favorite subjects are math and science. The junior is involved in track and cheerleading, Key Club, National Honor Society and Letterman Leadership. She is part of the WCHS Key Club that was recognized as an “Outstanding Youth Group” by the Delaware County Foundation during its Evening of Generosity on Oct. 20. She plans to study either chemistry or engineering at Ohio State University or an out-of-state university.
Westerville North: Paige Welsheimer’s favorite subjects are math, science and engineering. The senior is involved in a variety of activities, including Drama Club, National Honor Society, Superintendent Advisory Committee, Hope Squad, Warrior Mentor and Ultimate Frisbee. She has been a member of the girl’s soccer team and serves as WNHS Theatre Vice President. She is a Scholar Athlete and has received the AP Award of Distinction and the Ohio Northern Trustee Scholarship. She plans to study engineering at Ohio Northern University. “I would like to thank the Rotary Club and WNHS administration for this honor.”
Westerville South: Mahad Yusuf’s favorite subjects are physics, English and the performing arts. The senior is involved in Hope Squad, WSHS Marching Band and Theatre Troupe 513. He has received academic, theatre and band letters as well as the school award for perfect attendance. He plans to study engineering physics at Otterbein University. “I would like to thank the Rotary Club for the acknowledgment of my achievements and for all the work they do for the city of Westerville.
The St. Francis DeSales April 2022 honoree was unavailable to attend the luncheon because DeSales is on spring break this week. She or he will be honored by the club along with the May Student of the Month on May 5.
