Updated to reflect late donations – reaching $11,000 in total!

By BRANDY DEICHERT
2024-25 President, Rotary Club of Westerville —

The Rotary Club of Westerville has always prided itself on being a beacon of hope and support for communities in need, both locally and globally. We are thrilled to share a recent success in our efforts to live by the Rotary motto: Service Above Self.

In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, which has left countless communities grappling with the aftermath, our Club stepped up with an incredible show of generosity and compassion.

At the direction of our board, the Club immediately approved a $5,000 donation to the Hurricane Helene Relief Fund, established by Rotary Zones 33/34. This fund provides vital resources to those affected, to help them rebuild their homes and lives in the face of overwhelming destruction.

But we didn’t stop there. We extended an invitation to our members, offering to match, dollar for dollar, any donations made through our Westerville Rotary Foundation, up to $5,000. The response from our members was nothing short of inspiring. Members donated $3,000 and an anonymous giver matched the $3,000 to bring it to $6,000. Including the board-directed $5,000, our total donation reached $11,000!

This act of giving is more than just a financial donation; it’s a demonstration of our collective commitment to being there for others when they need it most. We are proud to be part of a global network that not only talks about making a difference but takes concrete steps toward action.

Thank you to all who contributed to our Hurricane Helene Relief effort, and all who continue to uphold the values of Rotary. Together, we are making a real impact in the lives of those facing tremendous hardship.

Huge thanks to our incredible, long-lasting partner Villa Milano - we couldn't do this without you, and to Cheryl's Cookies and Brownies for adding the perfect sweet touch! And to everyone who purchased or donated meals, your support helps fund service projects near and far!
