The Rotary Club of Westerville recognized its January 2021 Students of the Month during a virtual meeting Jan. 7. Throughout the school year, from October through May, the Club honors four students from local high schools each month. Working with the school principals and counselors, one student each month is chosen from Westerville Central, Westerville North, Westerville South and St. Francis DeSales high schools. The students, their parents, and the school administrators are introduced and honored at the Rotary Club’s first weekly meeting each month.

January 2021 honoree profiles

Westerville Central: Olivia Goodrich’s favorite subject is business. The senior is a member of the Key Club, Interact Club and National Honors Society. She has received the following awards and recognition: Outstanding Scholar Athlete, Annual Underclassmen Student Scholar Award and Gold & Silver Service Award. She plans to study business administration at Ohio State University. She is honored to receive the Rotary Club of Westerville’s Student of the Month award. “Thank you for recognizing my hard work!”

Westerville North: Aubrey McMahon’s favorite subjects are science and math. The senior is involved in a number of activities including tennis, lacrosse, WNHS’ Warrior athlete leadership team and the superintendent’s student advisory committee. She also assists in the athletic office. She has been recognized as second team All-Ohio OCC in tennis, a two-time MVP in tennis, a two-time Captains Award and a Coach’s award recipient in tennis. She plans to play tennis in college and is interested in studying environmental science, exercise science or sports management at Otterbein University, Ashland University or Mount Vernon University.

Westerville South: Jesse Devore’s favorite subjects are medical science and history. He is involved in football and basketball and has received the following recognitions for the past three years: Academic Letter, Scholar Athlete and Perfect Attendance. He hopes to major in pre-med, nursing or biochemistry at Ashland University, Denison University, Marietta College or Wittenberg University.

St. Francis DeSales: Noah Garrick’s favorite subjects are Calculus, physics and chemistry. The senior is a varsity basketball and volleyball player, a student ambassador, National Honors Society officer, president of the Astronomy Club and Student Council member. He has been on the honor roll for three years and has been inducted into the Italian National Honors Society as well as the National Honors Society. He is a candidate for valedictorian and has been named a CW Student Athlete of the Week. He plans to study chemical engineering at the University of Notre Dame, Ohio State University or University of Dayton.
